Good soldering is often undervalued, but once mastered, it transforms your making. This full-day Pro Class at Vanilla Ink CIC in Glasgow will help you develop a lighter touch, steadier heat control, and the precision needed to make secure, professional-quality jewellery.

You’ll explore the hints, tips, and techniques that turn frustration into finesse, learning how to wield your torch with confidence. By the end, you’ll have lit your inner pyromaniac and built the skills to solder and fuse like a pro.

Can I do this class?

If you’ve got basic jewellery-making experience but are totally fed up with melting things, then this is for you. We’ll show you the way of the fire, helping you understand exactly how solder behaves and how to control it with ease.

What happens?

You’ll learn how to:

• Apply essential soldering techniques

• Solder multiple joins cleanly and securely

• Touch solder with confidence and stability

• Flood/sweat solder in a simple, clean way

• Fuse metal without solder

• Use fusing as a decorative design

This is a practical, fire-heavy class packed with hands-on learning and professional tricks you’ll use for life.

Do I need to bring anything?

Bring a sketchbook or similar for taking notes. Please note that glasses/optivisors are advised for this class [get in touch if you’re unsure]. Please wear long hair tied up [or bring something to do so], don’t wear open-toed shoes and keep loose-fitting clothing to a minimum.

All materials and metals are included, which you can take away with you after the class. You will each have your own bench where we have access to all of our essential tools but do feel free to bring your own if you are more comfortable.
